International Workshop on Seizure Prediction (IWSP) https://www.iee.et.tu-dresden.de/iwsp5/2011/06/03/international-workshop-on-seizure-prediction-iwsp/ Fri, 03 Jun 2011 12:35:47 +0000 http://www.iee.et.tu-dresden.de/iwsp5/?p=155 Continue reading ]]> IWSP is an ongoing series of international meetings on seizure prediction, seizure dynamics, and seizure control founded in 2002. IWSP brings together researchers from a wide range of backgrounds including epileptology, neurosurgery, neurosciences, physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering.

The 5th International Workshop on Seizure Prediction will take place 19-23 September 2011 in Dresden, Germany. The conference program will consist of didactic lectures that cover epilepsy-related aspects for non-epileptologists and engineering/mathematics/physics-related aspects for MDs, scientific sessions devoted to actual problems in seizure prediction, and poster sessions. The main topics of this workshop are:

  • Recent approaches to seizure control
  • Recent developments in signal processing of interest for seizure prediction
  • Ictogenesis in complex epileptic brain networks
  • Active probing of the pre-seizure state
  • Non-EEG based approaches to the transition to seizures
  • Microseizures and their role in the generation of clinical seizures
  • What do computational models tell us about seizures, their prediction and control?
  • What can animal models contribute to improve understanding of the transition to seizures?
  • Impact of sleep and long-biological cycles on seizure prediction
  • Cellular Nonlinear Networks: Recent Developments and Trends
  • International Databases and Recent Technological Developments

There will be no contest on prediction and detection of epileptic seizures at IWSP5.
